There are hundreds, if not thousands, of ways you can spend your time using social networking sites to promote your business online and unless you are tracking and measuring which of those activities are working, then chances are, your business is not providing you with much online profits.  Google Analytics is a simple tool that you can install on your website to be able to track and measure your social networking activities which will give you accurate results instead of working from guesswork.

 

Google Analytics provides you with a wide range of analysis information that you can use to track which of the social networking sites you are on are bringing you in the most amount of traffic.  However, you should not stop at the amount of traffic that social networking is bringing in, that traffic needs to be converting into either signups for your mailing list or buying customers.

 

When using a social networking site like Twitter, you can include a unique page on your website just for those who click through from your Twitter profile to have a look at your website.  It's often a good idea to offer something free on your Twitter bio that may encourage people to click through to receive it and set yourself up as an expert in your field.  Also, when sending out links to your website in your Twitter feed, Google Analytics will be able to tell you which of these links are the most popular and how many people actually clicked on your links.
